🔗 Types of Joints in Underground Cables

When a cable is too long or needs repair, joints are used. These must be strong, waterproof, and insulated.

1. 🔄 Straight Joint

  • Connects two cables end-to-end

  • Common in long runs

2. ➕ T-Joint

  • A branch connection from the main line

  • Used for connecting a sub-circuit

3. 🛠️ Indoor/Outdoor Joint

  • Depends on location

  • Outdoor joints are waterproof and weather-resistant

4. 🧊 Pothead Joint

  • Used at the end of cable to connect with switchgear

  • Provides strong insulation
